Welcome to The Clubhouse - July 2010
Hola amigos! Yes, Spain are the World Champions - well done to them - but English football is back the doldrums after a World Cup to forget. As usual after a poor tournament, the grassroots game has come under the media microscope, so we couldn't let this pass us by here in The Clubhouse, brining you two pieces of interest this month: we look at the way forward for English football and we've an interview with Sir Trevor Brooking on the FA's new Future Game document.
On top of that, we've got details of the one the biggest youth football tournaments in the UK and a new scheme to get more kids involved in the game. Graham Poll is back to answer your refereeing questions and we give you a chance to cure your World Cup withdrawal symptoms with our latest competition. Loads to get your teeth into so get stuck in!

Where does English football go from here?

Sir Trevor Brooking on The Future Game
In answering the question posed in our lead headline this month, the Football Association can point to their blueprint for the future of football in England - The Future Game - as one of the reasons to be optimistic. A technical document that outlines a philosophy and strategy for the development of young players, The Future Game is the work of Sir Trevor Brooking and his team.
Here, in an interview with FC Business, the FA's Head of Football Development talks about what he sees as a "vital document" that must act a "start point" for the development of world class players in England.

Put your question to Graham Poll
Every month here in The Clubhouse, we give you the chance to put your questions to one of the UK's most successful ever referees, Graham Poll.
Email grahampoll@clubwebsite.co.uk with your poser and, if you ask Graham's Question of the Month, you'll win a signed copy of his book that takes a look at some of the biggest World Cup controversies: Geoff Hurst & the Hand of God.
With two World Cups under his belt, Graham knows a thing or two about controversy on football's biggest stage and he draws on that experience in a book that cuts to the quick and has even proved to be quite prophetic! To find out which previous World Cup controversy Graham predicted could come back to haunt FIFA and the country concerned, then read on.

Club Website monthly round-up
It's been non-stop at Club Website HQ since The Clubhouse last hit your inbox.
Our first port of call was Grass Roots Football LIVE at the NEC, where it was great to catch up with so many of you and to get such positive feedback on your club and league websites. We also got to speak to a few of the professional coaches appearing at the event, so keep an eye on clubwebsite.co.uk over the coming weeks for details of what pearls of wisdom they had to share with us.
Of course we kept an eye on the World Cup and, whilst not a classic, there was plenty to keep us entertained. No surprise at Club Website HQ about the winner though, after you clever people had predicted Spain to become World Champions!
One of the big talking points of the World Cup was Luis Suarez's handball against Ghana. This led to calls for the introduction of penalty goals - led by our very own Graham Poll - a topic which got you all going! 61 percent of you agreed and, although the poll is now closed, you can still have your say on this big issue.
In our other polls, 62 percent of you believe the World Cup will encourage more people to take up football next season, while 74 percent think that 9-v-9 football should be used as a stepping stone between mini-soccer and the 11-a-side game.
We're always on the lookout for interesting questions to ask our Club Website
members, so if you have a topical question that you'd like to gauge the public mood on, then find out how Club Website can help you put it to the masses!

We appreciate this edition of The Clubhouse is a bit Anglo-centric but, given recent events in South Africa, we hope you'll understand. Of course, if you have any news from Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland that hasn't made it onto our radar, we'd love to hear from you.
Please get yourselves involved in The Clubhouse and email your comments or articles to clubnews@clubwebsite.co.uk or contact us via Facebook or on Twitter at @clubwebsite (or contact our editor Dan Pope directly at @mrdjpope).
Yours in football,
