Welcome to The Clubhouse - October 2010

It's a mammoth edition of The Clubhouse this month as we bring you the inside story from the launch of the English FA's 'Football Needs' campaign, an interview with football freestyler Billy Wingrove, a chance for you to put your questions to your national FA and not one but two ways to nominate any special volunteers that work in grassroots football.

We've also got news of Kick It Out's 2010 Weeks of Action and a special award for the Football Foundation, plus we're giving away 10 copies of PES 2011. All that and much more besides - loads to get your teeth into! Enjoy the issue.

in the spotlight this month...

Football needs... you!

When the English FA told the nation's workforce that "football needs you" they called upon teachers, mechanics and singers across the country to get into the game as a coach or referee. Club Website editor Dan Pope went along to the launch of this recruitment drive to see if sports journalists were included on the list and, more importantly, to find out more about the campaign.

Skills pay the bills - just ask Billy Wingrove

He's performed in front of huge crowds at Premier League grounds, played with megastars such as Lionel Messi and Fernando Torres and his ball skills would put most of theirs in the shade. But Billy Wingrove has never played professional football in his life. So how has he made a career in the game?

Two words: freestyle football. Billy is a ball-juggler extraordinaire, as Club Website found out when we checked out his skills first hand recently.

And another thing...

Sorry there's no Graham Poll column this week folks, but we're sure you'll have found plenty here to keep you interested. If not, here's a rundown of everything else that's been going on at Club Website HQ over the last few weeks:

The beta version of our new club website design is almost ready to roll out to our administrators - expect more details on this via the usual channels soon!

In other news recently, we've brought you details of two great competitions in the FA Umbro Fives and the Football League Kids Cup & Girls Cup, whilst also giving you the opportunity to 'Lead the Game' with Kick it Out.

We've brought you updates from the Rio 2010 Homeless World Cup including victory for host nation Brazil in both the men's and women's competitions and Club Website editor Dan Pope also brought you a radio feature on the positive impact the tournament has on those who take part in it.

There's been a positive impact on girls football with a cash boost for one Club Website team and there's positive news for our various FAs in our latest polls.

We found that one third of you (33%) have noticed a marked improvement in behaviour in your football over the last 12 months (compared to 18% saying it's got worse), while almost half of you (46%) would consider becoming a qualified football coach (20% of you are already in training and only 17% ruled it out!).

Of course, if you want to put your question to the masses with our Club Website polls then just drop us a line and we can ask the nation!
