Rio ready for the positive power of football

Just over a week to go until the Homeless World Cup kicks off in Rio, Brazil, with teams from over 60 countries around the world coming together for a festival of football. A fantastic event is in prospect, but the real power of the tournament is the positive impact it makes on those who play in it, as Club Website found out when we met up with Homeless World Cup founder and president Mel Young.

Club Website backs the bid!

It's official. Club Website is backing England's 2018 World Cup bid. The news follows a poll carried out across our network during the recent Back the Bid week, when 78 percent of you told us that you supported England's bid.

With almost 8,000 people polled in total, we found that nine out of 10 of our English members back the bid, as do the majority (52%) of those of you who aren't English.
Sounds like a resounding "yes" to us, so we're backing the bid!

Graham Poll back to answer your questions

After a well-deserved summer break, Club Website's refereeing guru is back in The Clubhouse to solve the problems and queries that other ex-FIFA officials cannot reach. If you play or watch football at the weekend and you come across a decision that you don't understand, email it to grahampoll@clubwebsite.co.uk and it might just be answered by the man himself right here in The Clubhouse.

All questions sent in get put into a draw for a Club Website football, while Graham's favourite question each month wins a personal signed copy of his latest book, Geoff Hurst and the Hand of God.

Congratulations to Cameron Glasby of Himley Hawks who won a place at the famous Manchester United Soccer Schools this summer courtesy of Club Website and our friends at Konami.

13-year old Cameron's prize included five nights full board at the school, a Nike training kit, use of the latest training equipment, a behind-the-scenes tour of Old Trafford and a chance to play on the famous Old Trafford pitch. We hope you had a great time Cameron and that your team mates weren't too jealous!

Well done also to Amelia Thompson (Red Hall Star FC), Heather Knotts and Colin Faulkner who each won a Premier League Classic Matches DVD boxset.

And another thing...

It's been all systems go since The Clubhouse last hit your inbox, with our development team working their socks off on the new club website design.

Not long to wait now until we roll out the beta version of the site for our administrators to "test drive" before we make the final tweaks under the bonnet and roll it out across our network.  We'll keep our administrators fully informed throughout the process and will be in touch with plans and dates for the rollout very soon. So all you administrators - keep an eye on the usual channels!

While all that's been going on, we've also found time to bring you some grassroots news, including the story of a "fantastic" Wembley day out for two Club Website members honoured by The FA. Congratulations to Bill Taylor and Mike Robinson - we're thrilled for you both. Keep up the good work!

We also brought you news of some important changes to mini football in Wales for the 2010/11 season. Sounds like they're onto a good thing there.

Aside from our 2018 bid poll, we also found that a quarter of you still see an improvement in standards of behaviour (25%) as your priority for the season ahead, with improving coaching standards for young players (23%) and making it easier to run a club (21%) also high on the agenda.

As always, you can keep up to date with Club Website in a variety of ways, including following us at facebook.com/clubwebsite or twitter.com/clubwebsite.
