Football and Me - Dan Walker

When Dan Walker was eleven years old he wrote a letter to Des Lynam, presenter of the BBC's Saturday sports programme Grandstand, asking his advice on how to get his job. Talking about sport for a living obviously appealed to the youngster.

Twenty-two years on, Walker has worked his way up from student radio all the way to Lynam's old studio where he now talks to the nation every Saturday as presenter of the BBC's flagship football magazine programme, Football Focus.

Thankfully he's still as keen as ever to talk about football - and more besides - as we found out when we caught up with Dan at BBC Television Centre this week.

Master control. The Nike CTR360 Maestri II Elite

Want to control a game like Cesc Fabregas or Andres Iniesta? By controlling the tempo with accurate passing, dictating the pace and creating chances for team mates at will, both are maestros of the midfield art - the ultimate control players.

Fabregas and Iniesta both wear the Nike CTR360 Maestri II Elite boot. With kanga-lite uppers for great comfort and pass & receive pads to aid precise ball control and precision passing, this boot is designed for the player looking to master control on the pitch.

Would a summer game help the grassroots grow?

First it was the big freeze, then the festive break and now waterlogged pitches up and down the country. For one reason or another, the grassroots football calendar has taken a hammering over the last two months and, for those teams lucky enough to get out to play, many find themselves doing so on a ploughed field.

Debate on a change to the calendar has swept through the grassroots game, with Sam Allardyce calling for a summer season for all children under the age of 16, as Club Website editor Dan Pope reports.

Unite against the "gobby morons" with Respect FC

We all love the beautiful game but we know that it can at times turn ugly, with referees and players alike often victims of aggressive behaviour and abuse.

This week a new football club, Respect FC, was launched to tackle the "gobby morons" who ruin the game for others and unite fans against the ugly side of the beautiful game, to create a safe and enjoyable environment for it to take place.

Find out more this latest campaign from the English FA and let us know what you think needs to be done to introduce Respect across the game within the UK.

Funding boost for two Club Website clubs

Two Club Website member clubs are looking onwards and upwards this month after receiving substantial funding grants from the Football Foundation, the country's largest sports charity and football's biggest supporter.

Lancashire's Oswaldtwistle St Mary’s FC and Hampshire's Ringwood Town FC - whose websites are both powered by Club Website - have been celebrating the award of grants which enable them to develop or build facilities and increase opportunities for their local communities.

And another thing...

After last month's discussions around the development of future British talent - focussing on the launch of The Future Game - we wanted to find out how involved in the bigger picture those of you involved in youth football in this country felt.

Quite heavily involved, it seems. A whopping 72% of you feel that you "have a part to play in your country's football development and a successful national team in the future" which is, we think, a very positive message to hear.

As ever, we've been busy keeping you up to date with all things Club Website at facebook.com/clubwebsite so come and take a look. There's always a bit friendly chat and healthy debate, regular fantastic/funny football footage and the occasional Facebook-only competition.

If you're more of a Twitter-phile than a Facebook fan, then you can keep tabs on the latest with Club Website at twitter.com/clubwebsite, whilst you can follow the random musings of our editor Dan Pope at twitter.com/mrdjpope.
