Welcome to The Clubhouse - March 2011
Hi folks and welcome to another cracking edition of The Clubhouse. This month we take a look back at football 60 years ago this month, whilst asking one of the biggest questions in the grassroots game today: just who is responsible for ensuring referees get shown Respect? We want to hear your thoughts, so make sure you get involved.
We've got news of how the English FA's proposals for youth football have gone down, whilst the Welsh Football Trust outline their own plans for youth development. We're on the lookout for your Welsh grassroots football heroes, we've got details of one of the UK's biggest football tournaments and we put your refereeing knowledge to the test. Enjoy the issue.

Club Website editor Dan Pope takes a look at a football newspaper from 60 years ago this month and reflects on how different the game was - in most instances at least - to the one we know today.

FA youth football proposals get grassroots support
Last month in The Clubhouse we outlined the FA's proposals for youth football in England, which will increase small-sided football for under 13s and ban league tables for under 11s. We knew it would get people going, but what a stir it caused!
The
debate has been raging on our website ever since with some strong views expressed on both sides, but now the results of a Club Website poll can reveal that the majority of the grassroots football community support the FA's plans.

And another thing...
Club Website hit the national press last week when an article in The Independent on the FA's proposals for youth football quoted the results of our 9v9 survey. It's always good to see grassroots football getting coverage in the mainstream media, but even better when the voice of our Club Website members gets heard!
On Club Website we announced the beta launch of our new club website design - more details above - and we marked 150 days to go to the Homeless World Cup.
We also brought you news of the FA's Big Grassroots Survey which will direct how England's governing body invest their all-important grassroots funds over the next few years. The survey closes today so make sure you have your say!
As usual, there has been lots happening on our Facebook and Twitter pages, with plenty of debate, comment, banter and a few entertaining videos along the way. If you're not following us via social media already, get involved today!
