And another thing...

Senior figures at the Football Association were "positive" as the Your Kids Your Say roadshow drew to a close this month. But the proposed changes on youth football in England continue to get people talking, so make sure you have your say.

Liverpool legend Craig Johnston made an impassioned please to Premier League chairmen this month to halve professional player's salaries and invest the money in grassroots football in their local area. It's a candid and fascinating interview so be sure to check it out.

The Barclays Community Sports Awards are open again for the 2011-12 season, rewarding some of the game's unsung heroes. Gareth Southgate is chief judge for the awards and we heard from the ex-England defender this month as he spoke to Connect Sport about how football can heal community rifts.

And finally, there was news this week on the positive power of football as the Football Foundation and Sport Relief's Extra Time scheme showed how the game has lessened the strain on the health service by engaging over-55s and providing regular sport and social activity at 30 professional football clubs.
