You can win a signed copy of Benitez’s new book, plus we bring you loads of great grassroots football content, featuring the FA, the SFA, the Football Foundation, the Kids Coach and our Photo of the Month competition. Enjoy the issue.

in the spotlight this month...

Rafa Benitez knows success at the top of European football. The man who brought the European Cup back to Anfield has a host of trophies to his name, but his journey to the top was a long and hard one.

A student of the game from an early age, Benitez put in the hard yards as a coach in the lower reaches of Spanish football before getting the opportunity at football's top table, as he told Club Website editor Dan Pope.

And another thing...

Lots going on in the world of grassroots football this month. The big news from Wembley was the FA's appointment of West Bromwich Albion's Dan Ashworth as their Director of Elite Development.

Ashworth will be overseeing the development of England's playing and coaching talent from the end of the current season from his new base at St George's Park, the FA's new national football centre, a facility hailed as "fabulous" this month by England World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst.

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has thrown his support behind a £1m grassroots programme that will help clubs at Step 5-7 of the English Football pyramid. The Budweiser Club Futures scheme will dish out 16 grants of £50,000 to clubs over the course of the next two seasons.

The Scottish FA has kicked off its third year of the Tesco Bank Football Challenge, with the news that 40% of all schools in Scotland are now signed up to their flagship participation programme.

Elsewhere north of the border, grassroots clubs from across the country met at Hampden Park for the SFA’s Club Together conference, while Scotland star Robert Snodgrass went back to school for the Vauxhall School Futsal Programme, aimed at getting more 12-18 year-olds playing football.

The London FA has been seeking young football leaders to help shape and develop the game in the capital, while Fields in Trust gave you the chance to help your local football pitch be a winner!

And finally, there's always loads happening on Facebook and Twitter so come on over and join us!
