Soccer Aid 2008

Wembley Stadium - 7 September, 7.30pm kick off

World Cup legends and top celebrities go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium next month as England take on The Rest of The World as part of Soccer Aid 2008 to raise funds for UNICEF’s health, education and protection work with vulnerable children all over the world.

Following the success of Soccer Aid 2006 at Old Trafford, this year’s event takes place at Wembley Stadium, where up to 90,000 people will be treated to a unique opportunity to see football legends take to the hallowed turf alongside their celebrity counterparts.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is stepping up to manage England and his squad includes football legends Alan Shearer and Jamie Redknapp, as well as celebrities Kyran Bracken, Ben Shephard, Gareth Gates, Jamie Theakston and Jonathan Wilkes.

Meanwhile, legendary Scot Kenny Dalglish will take charge of the Rest of the World side. Players hoping to make it into his starting line up include Westlife’s Nicky Byrne, Alastair Campbell, Patrick Kielty, Brian Lara, Jesse Metcalfe and Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel.

The action takes place at Wembley on 7 September and you can be there! To find out how to buy tickets, visit www.unicef.org.uk/socceraid.

Ant and Dec will be hosting all the action on ITV1, so even if you can’t be there then you can still follow all of the action. Plus, if you can't make it to the game there are still plenty of other ways that you can help out…

Soccer Aid Fives at Goals Soccer Centre

Another way to help Soccer Aid is to take part in Soccer Aid Fives, supported by Umbro, at your local Goals Soccer Centre.

Goals, the UK's premier 5-a-side centres, will be hosting Soccer Aid Fives 2008 on their purpose-built, all-weather pitches. This national 5-a-side football championship will be taking place at Goals Soccer Centres across the UK to raise awareness and funds for UNICEF, and give competitors the chance to join stars of Soccer Aid 2008 in a pre-match soccer skills session at Wembley Stadium courtesy of Umbro. The winners will also receive their Soccer Aid Fives Championship trophy in front of a packed stadium on Soccer Aid match day.

Every Goals Soccer Centre across the country will hold a regional qualifying heat on the weekend of 30-31 August. The winners of the heats will progress on to the National Finals at Goals Hayes, just a few minutes from Wembley Stadium, where they will compete for the chance to take part in the soccer skills session with some of the Soccer Aid players. Every team that makes the National Finals will be presented with tickets to the Soccer Aid match on Sunday 7 September at Wembley Stadium.  Click here to register for Soccer Aid Fives.
