Dear fellow footballer,

Welcome to the Club House - July 2008

The Club House is a monthly e-newsletter to keep you informed of major developments occurring within the real game of grassroots football, providing you with information, articles and stories from around the UK football community.  An informative newsletter that should stimulate the taste buds of players, managers and committee members around the UK, discussing the real issues affecting today's game!

In the spotlight this month…

Back to my roots - Curtis Davies

When Curtis Davies was rejected by Wimbeldon as a 15 year-old, he wrote to other clubs asking for a trial.  Given a chance by Luton, he has since progressed rapidly through the game and is now playing for Aston Villa in the Premier League, a fine example to young footballers of what can be achieved if you put your mind to it.

When Club Website met up with Curtis we took him back to his roots and, in the first of our series of interviews with professional players, we found out about his grassroots football experience and his journey to the Premier League.

Lead your team to Euro 2008 glory!

Euro 2008 came to a thrilling climax on Sunday evening, as Club Website readers backed Spain all the way to their first trophy since 1964.  Having been spoiled by three weeks of wonderful attacking football, you may start to get football withdrawal symptoms while you wait for the new season to come around... and that's where Club Website can sort you out!

To help tide you over until pre-season starts in earnest, we've extended the deadline of our latest competition.  We've got 15 copies of the official Euro 2008 game to give away, meaning you can relive the excitement of the tournament or, better still, lead one of our home nations' teams to Euro glory!

No Club Welfare Officer next season, no affiliation!

If your club runs any team at under 18 level or younger, you must have a Welfare Officer in place to gain affiliation with the English FA for the 2008/09 season.  Contact your county FA to begin the process, which involves completing an FA Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) application for the Officer.

The CRB application must have been accepted or in progress at the point of affiliation.  Once in place, your County FA will provide full training to your Officer.  They will also offer ongoing guidance, advice and sharing of best practice.  Don’t risk your club or league losing their affiliation… if you haven’t started the process already, click here to contact your County FA today!
